GREYHOUNDS Cover Boy Slim is turning 15!

Slim Image is Fantastic 15 on 8.8.10!

His CV is impressive:

Slim raced for 2 ½ years, 145 races, at three different greyhound racetracks.

After his tenure on the track the “purple dog” from Dairyland retired to Chicago in 1999 to become Barbara’s muse and a city boy. He was cat inquisitive, terrible on a leash and too smart for his own good.

Her greyhound shoots began three weeks after she adopted Slim.

Slim loved the camera from the first time he stepped on the white seamless.

He would and still will do anything for a treat.

His countenance has graced the pages of a number of magazines and books over the years. His handsome face is on the cover GREYHOUNDS and inside SMALL DOG BIG DOG and Design for Obama too. His picture has been in The Bark, Esquire, Celebrating Greyhounds, Readers Digest, The Houston Chronicle, Channel 7 ABC, WCIU, and several blogs ranging from People’s Magazines Pets to Bloomberg to Dog Art Today! Additionally, he has been on jewelry, posters t-shirts, greeting cards, valentines, checkbook covers. business cards, bookmarks and even tattoos. He has been been a high style model for Snob Hounds. But even his sometimes high fallootin’ garb didn’t keep him form returning to his athletic roots.

He absolutely loved flyball and in his spare time he raced with the Black Sheep Squadron. He was the eleventh retired racing greyhound to receive a flyball title at the age of almost 10. He spent 6 years as the unofficial therapy dog of the Self Help Home in Chicago. He has been Barbara’s most steadfast of companions through good times and difficult times.

Slim has had lots of friends in his life and he has brought great joy to those who live with him – first to Easton (well initially not so much but she saw the folly of her hasty judgment), Bing the cat, then Turtledove, Fancy, and most especially Barbara. She wishes him many more days, months or years as long as he is still happy to be alive. Slim you can have as many cookies as you want; it’s your birthday. We love you Slim.

Canine Portrait – Riley Finn Triptych

Riley Finn Triptych
Recently we created a triptych of one of the models from Small Dog Big Dog, Riley Finn. Riley is an adorable German Shorthaired Pointer with uniquely patterned fur and piercing amber eyes! We love the way these three photographs came together. The final print, which was 20 x 24 inches, was just gorgeous. Riley, you were an awesome model! Even if we didn’t get a chance to see you skateboard.

Well… here it is is! We are SO excited to see the results of Barbara’s interview with Janet Davies at Chicago ABC 7 News!

Barbara says, “I was a bit nervous about being taped for television, but Janet Davies was such a great interviewer, she totally put me at ease. I’m thrilled that Channel 7 included so many of the wonderful dog participants from Small Dog Big Dog and Greyhounds. The integration of the imagery from the two books was seamless. I was also incredibly moved by the mention of Easton.”

We should also note that we really appreciated the shout-out to our local greyhound rescue group, Greyhounds Only.

Nice job, channel 7! Thanks again!!
